Tell me how much water you drank when you were young and I'll tell you what skin you have now... Water is an essential element for life and a scarce commodity that is unevenly distributed geographically. Are we consuming it correctly? Health and beauty go hand in hand, hence the importance of creating good routines that are reflected on the outside.
Beauty is a holistic, made up of many factors, a good combination of healthy habits, maintaining a good lifestyle with a good diet, adequate sleep and low stress levels is reflected in the face over the years.
Hydrating our body is fundamental and drinking water is something basic that we have to do every day if we want to have beautiful skin.
Water in cosmetics
In most conventional cosmetic products the ingredient water appears first on many product labels. Water in cosmetic products is a replenishing ingredient that does not actually moisturise the skin, it is the oil, the lipid component that moisturises the skin. This is because cosmetic products are applied in the outermost layer of the epidermis, in what is known as the stratum corneum, and when water comes into contact with air it evaporates, hence the importance of working the skin with lipids, such as vegetable oils, as these are composed of fatty lipids like our skin barrier, the stratum corneum.
Lipids create a protective barrier to keep our body hydrated and prevent transepidermal water loss. The appearance of our skin is therefore closely linked to the quality of the stratum corneum.
Moisturise your skin from the inside out
Drinking water, drinking water and drinking more water is one of the best ways to stay healthy and have beautiful skin. We have already seen that hydration occurs from the inside out, so drinking eight to ten glasses of water a day is recommended.
Our skin is the result of how we take care of ourselves on the inside, so drinking water as well as maintaining a balanced diet, rich in proteins and low in sugars and carbohydrates is essential to promote health and prolong youth. A dehydrated body is prone to inflammation and inflammation is the cause of ageing and the appearance of wrinkles.
The best remedy for natural beauty is in our kitchens and the results are visible in the short, medium and long term.
